Frequently Asked Questions

How do I resize a photo for an exam application form?

Pick your exam below (or use Custom for any other size), upload your photo, drag the crop box to frame it, then click Crop & Resize. The tool automatically searches for a JPEG quality that lands the file size inside the exam's required KB range at its exact required pixel dimensions.

Is this exam photo resizer free and safe to use?

Yes, completely free with no signup or watermark. Your photo is cropped, resized, and compressed entirely inside your browser using the Canvas API — it's never uploaded to a server, so it stays private on your device.

Why does my exam application keep rejecting my photo?

Almost always because the file size or pixel dimensions don't match what the exam portal expects exactly — most portals reject a photo even a few KB outside the stated min-max range. This tool binary-searches the JPEG quality specifically to land inside that range, rather than just applying one fixed compression level.

Can I use this for a signature image too?

Yes — switch to the Signature tab (or select Signature on an exam's page) for the correct, usually much smaller, dimensions and KB range.

What if my exam isn't listed?

Use the Custom tab to enter the exact width, height, and min/max KB from your exam's own notification. Always double-check specs directly in the current year's official notification before applying, since exams do change them.

Why does the KB range matter, not just the file size?

Many government exam portals reject an upload that's below the stated minimum KB as well as above the maximum — a tiny, over-compressed file is rejected just like an oversized one. This tool targets the full range, not just a ceiling.
