Save Image As JPG, PNG, WebP — Free Browser Extension

Right-click any image and save it as JPG, PNG or WebP. It is a real conversion, done in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.

Save any image as JPG, PNG or WebP: right-click, done

What it does

Q3 Save Image As adds one entry to the right-click menu on images: Save image as… with JPG, PNG and WebP, plus a “Save as default format” shortcut. It converts the image for real, not by renaming the file, so a WebP or AVIF from a website becomes a JPG or PNG that any app accepts.

It works with WebP, PNG, JPG, GIF (first frame), AVIF and SVG images. Transparent areas turn white when you save as JPG. File names are cleaned up: the original name, without the web address junk, with the right extension.

Frequently asked questions

Why do images save as WebP?

Many websites now serve images as WebP (or AVIF) because the files are smaller, and your browser's own Save image as keeps whatever format the site sent. This extension converts the image to JPG, PNG or WebP for you, so you get a file that opens in any editor, email client or upload form.

Is it safe?

The extension has no analytics, no tracking, no accounts and no remote code. Images are fetched and converted on your device, and the only network request is the one that downloads the image you right-clicked. It reads an image only after you choose a format from the menu. The full policy is on the privacy page.

Does it work on Firefox, Edge and Opera?

Yes. It is built for Chrome, Edge and Opera (and other Chromium browsers) and for Firefox 140 and newer, from one codebase. Chrome, Edge and Opera use the same package.

What happens to transparent PNGs saved as JPG?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Save as PNG or WebP to keep the transparency.

Can I choose the quality?

Yes. Set the default format and the JPG/WebP quality (50 to 100, default 92) from the toolbar popup or the options page. PNG is always lossless.

Does it work with SVG and GIF images?

Yes. An SVG is rendered to a sharp bitmap at least 1,024 pixels on its longest side, and an animated GIF is saved from its first frame. Some sites block access to their images, and then the extension tells you why instead of failing silently.
